"Hit indie developer Introversion Software just delivered an early holiday gift: three of its award-winning games bundled in one low-priced collection, appropriately titled The Introversion Anthology. Packing three cult classic games - Uplink, DEFCON, and Darwinia - the collection is now on Steam for $29.95 with an extra $10 off for one week only. These games deserve all the accolades showered on them -don’t pass it up!

Team Fortress 2 gameplay stats are now live. We track detailed game data to help you learn how the community is playing the game and helps us make any tweaks necessary to ensure a fun, balanced experience. Check out which Team Fortress 2 class is most played, the average time per round for each map and even precisely where on each map players die most often. These stats and many more are updated weekly.

The Valve Store is stocked with new items: Aperture Laboratories coffee mugs and posters, Weighted Companion Cube plushes and ready-to-hang fuzzies, and--back by popular demand--Half-Life 2 Headcrab Hats and Headcrab plushes."

"New achievement packs will be added to Team Fortress 2 in the coming weeks. First up: a batch of 36 achievements for all the hard-working medics out there. Here's a sneak peek:

We usher in the holiday season with new merch in the Valve company store...

We’re pleased to offer three new lithographs in our collector's edition prints. Each of the lithographs features concept art from Orange Box games-Portal, Half-Life 2: Episode 2, and Team Fortress 2. The first hundred of these limited-edition runs are hand-signed and numbered by the artist and embossed with the Valve lambda.

If Portal’s Weighted Companion Cube and cake could express holiday cheer-and we remind you that they cannot-they’d send an Aperture Laboratory Holiday Greeting Card. This limited-edition pack includes 15 Portal-themed greeting cards-three each of five different sets, each with a unique holiday greeting inside. Slip in a new Aperture Laboratories parking sticker, available separately, to warm the heart of your favorite Portal jumper.

Also in stock for the holidays: The Orange Box gift certificate pack. You get two gift certificates for the Orange Box, each presented in an Aperture Laboratory Holiday Greeting Card. As a bonus, the gift certificates save you 10% off the regular retail price.

You can pick up Activision’s action-adventure game GUN for just $9.95 USD, a 50% savings, this weekend only. Saddle up."

Team Fortress 2 / Steam Update

Thursday 15 November 2007 | Post a comment

The team over at Valve released a massive Steam update tonight, primarily aimed at Team Fortress 2, making several key changes to both Hydro and Granary maps. The update also effects the Steam Engine and Source TV. The full list of updates are listed below, and as always, just restart your Steam Client and the changes will take effect.
"Team Fortress 2
* Fixed exploit where spectators could spawn into the world without actually joining a team

Hydro map changes
* Fixed an exploit that would allow players to jump out of the map

Granary map changes
* Cover changes to the first capture points of both teams. Reduces some of the sight lines for defenders, and should make the area easier to capture
* Teams that are holding more points will receive a greater spawn time bonus (spawn timer reduced for the winning team). This should help attacking teams build momentum
* Minor visual tweaks to the BLU side between capture points 2 and 3
* Clipped off a super high (demo pipe jump) perch in the middle area
* Increased base round timer to 10 minutes
* Added windows overlooking the final cap from the capture point 2 building (via new room next to conveyor route)
* Minor changes to lighting in the middle area
* Moved the middle spawn points farther forward (saves 6-7 seconds off a Heavy's run from this spawn to enemy capture point 2)
* Reduced spawn advantage/penalty to a total of -/+ 6 seconds when on the final cap (from 10 seconds)
* Fixed material alignment and model interpenetration issues in home spawn rocket rooms

SourceTV
* Increased default bandwidth rate from 5 to 8 KB/sec for spectator clients
* Increased SourceTV demo buffer size for table class descriptions from 64 to 96KB. Team Fortress 2 was running over this
* Performance improvement for copying unreliable data buffers to SourceTV clients
* Updated the list of events in TF2 tagged for the director to play

Source Engine
* Fixed a bug in networking that would cause long stalls (up to 10 seconds) when a split packet would not be reassembled properly, which forced a full update to all clients
* General optimization to tracelines
* Fix for broken .dem file playback
* Added backward compatibility code to allow demos recorded with protocol 12 to continue to be playable under protocol version 13
* When showing "WARNING: Connection Problem", now indicate the number of seconds remaining before an auto-disconnect will occur
* Fixed a bug that would cause NULLNAME to be shown as the player's name in the scoreboard for a short time."
