Team Fortress 2 Update

Wednesday 2 July 2008 | Post A Comment

Valve has released a new update for Team Fortress 2 today which addresses several bugs stemming from the recent pyro update. Simply restart your Steam Client and the changes will take effect.
" Team Fortress 2
- Fixed backburner's flame critical hits not being recalculated after collision. This meant that it would check if the target was looking away once and after that the flame could score a critical hit again even if the orientation changed
- Added back some damage falloff to the Pyro's flamethrower. Not nearly as extreme as it was before the Pyro class pack
- Fixed bug that caused Demomen to take a small amount of extra damage from their own grenades and fly farther using them
- Fixed spy getting stuck in players after removing his disguise
- Fixed spy stabbing and being able to go invisible instantly
- Fixed spy disguised as enemy medic being able to spam voice commands
- Fixed buffed health not decaying properly after being healed by a dispenser
- Selectable menus can now be operated with number keys even if they are not bound to slot1, slot2, etc.
- Removed the remaining speed adjustments for carrying intelligence (a couple of game modes still reduced your maxspeed)
- Fixed a buildable item placement bug where the object would not rotate after the user tried to place in an invalid location"

If the target was hurt 12.5 seconds ago, you'll be healing at 48 health a second. If the target hasn't been hurt for over 15 seconds, you'll be getting the maximum heal rate of 72 health a second."

In anticipation of the new Pyro Update this week for Team Fortress 2, Valve has placed the update website online for everyone to checkout. The newly launched website features information on the two new maps to be released, the unlockable weapons for the pyro, and the long list of achievements that will now be available for pyro players. All of these features will be released later this week in the update.

The two new maps that will be featured are CP_Fastlane and CP_Turbine. Both maps may be familiar to you, as they were developed by third party players and have been circling the internet for quite sometime. None the less, their addition to the official map list will surely increase their popularity.

As promised, the Valve Team has released their newest installment in the "Meet The Team" short film series. Meet The Sniper is now available for download on the Steam Powered Website, and is definitely worth the watch.

Meet The Scout Hits Steam

Monday 21 April 2008 | Post A Comment

A new Team Fortress 2 introductory video has been released on Steam, this one highlighting the Scout class. It was released as a promotional bit for the Team Fortress 2 individual game release, which ironically happened a few weeks ago. None the less, like all of the others this video is pretty entertaining, so if you have some extra time be sure to check it out. You can visit the Steam Website for the basic movie, or check out your Steam Client if you are interested in the HD version.
"The youngest of eight boys from the south side of Boston, the Scout learned early how to problem solve with his fists. With seven older brothers on his side, fights tended to end before the runt of the litter could maneuver into punching distance, so the Scout trained himself to run. He ran everywhere, all the time, until he could beat his pack of mad dog siblings to the fray."

Robin Walker Discusses What's Next For TF2

Wednesday 26 March 2008 | Post A Comment

As Team Fortress 2 enthusiasts, we are always wondering what new plans and features the developers have in store for us next. Well this week IGN got the chance to sit down with Valve's Robin Walker and Erik Johnson. The interview is a bit old, conducted in mid-February (not my fault I swear), so some of the information is out of date. However, on the whole the interview gives us a great look into what is in the works for release soon. Checkout a snippet below.
"IGN: When might we see Goldrush release? Can you briefly describe the type of gameplay mode players should expect to see on this map?

Robin Walker: Goldrush is looking like it'll come out along with the Medic achievements and unlockable weaponry. It's the first map in a new game mode we're calling "Payload", where the Blu team escorts a cart loaded with explosives into a Red base. The cart moves faster the more Blu players are near it, and contains a handy dispenser to heal and resupply them as they escort it. The Red team wins if they can keep the cart from reaching their base. Goldrush is also the first map where we've used the cinematic physics technology from Half-Life 2: Episode 2 in a multiplayer environment, and we're really happy with the results."
